A large entertainment company had a successful Wonderland-themed restaurant but wanted to create something even more magical and immersive for special occasions. Working with them through 900lbs over 2 weeks, our challenge was to transform traditional dining into a multisensory journey through Wonderland.
I led the creation of a storyworld where guests become part of Alice's adventure through individual 360-degree dome environments with projection mapping that responds to what they eat and drink. Using storytelling, experience design, and creative direction, we designed an experience where waitstaff become story guides, food triggers environmental changes, and guests shrink, grow, and journey through iconic Wonderland moments.
Through spatial design and narrative innovation, we created a dining concept where "anything and everything could happen," making guests active participants in their own Wonderland adventure rather than passive observers.
Guests begin outside the dining pod facing a tiny projected door. As they consume Alice's famous shrinking potion cocktail, the door appears to grow larger around them, creating the magical illusion they've shrunk small enough to enter Wonderland.
Bright colors and moving elements surround diners as they enjoy forest-themed appetizers on their "magic mushroom" transport. But eating makes them shrink to ant size—suddenly they're witnessing tiny dramas like two ants fighting while towering mushrooms become skyscrapers. Mysterious "yoo-hoos" echo from invisible sources as the Cheshire Cat's presence is felt but never fully seen.
Guests float across a fantastical lake enjoying their entrees when toy-like Heart Ships suddenly surround them. A magic drink transforms them back to giant size, and their mushroom sends out particle waves, knocking the now-tiny ships away like toys.
Guests enter the chaotic tea house with upside-down portraits, delirious laughter, and breaking teapots while enjoying desserts. When the Heart army approaches, pink smoke lifts them on a magic carpet ride above the chaos before returning them to reality with a final "Eat Me" macaroon.
